Terminal-to-Network Interface

Bell Aliant announces the commercial introduction of the Terminal-to-Network interface for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line 2+ (ADSL2+) based on publicly available standards. Service is expected to commence in 4Q2007 in selected areas of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador and Prince Edward Island, subject to market requirements and technical feasibility. This interface is in addition to the interface described in Bell Aliant Industry Advisory ATIA-4a, ATIA-4b and ATIA-4i.

This service will use existing telephone loops having metallic continuity, to provide simultaneous voice and data capability between the subscriber and the main terminal room. ADSL equipment will be provided by the ADSL service provider at both ends of the loop. The connection to the local loop will remain an existing POTS copper interface.

Subscriber located ADSL equipment must be certified in accordance with Certification Specification CS-03.

Compatibility Impact:

None expected.


The Terminal-to-Network interface to Bell Aliant ADSL2+ network conforms to the following industry standards:

ITU-T Recommendation G.992.5, Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line 2+ (ADSL2+) Transceivers
